This whimsical hare assemblage is made from embossed copper sheet with a mother of pearl button detail, beaded tail and brass whiskers. A birdcage charm dangles from the branches of a copper and brass wire tree with handmade porcelain flowers on the ground, a pewter moon shines down. It is coated in crystalline verdigris and all assembled onto a piece of vintage china tea plate. The assemblage is mounted and signed on acid free off white card in a cream contemporary style open grain wooden box frame, 330mm x 330mm.
Growing up, I trained to be a children’s book illustrator and so I have always dreamed up stories behind my pieces. I do hope this enigmatic hare is enjoying being sung to by the nightingale.
